What is Strike Rate in Cricket?

In cricket what are strike rates that indicate how fast a batsman scores run? It is conveying how many runs a player scores per 100 balls. If a batsman has a strike rate of 50 for example, he would score 50 runs in 100 balls. The higher the strike rate, higher the number of runs the batsman would score in lesser number of balls, which is especially important in shorter matches like T20 and ODI cricket.

In test cricket, batsmen have more time and can have a lower strike rate since they are about preserving the wicket than smashing runs.
